human lie on hominidae.after the seperation of new world monkey (platyrrhini) and anthropoids, the lineage of anthropoids is called anthropoid line.the anthropoids were the ancestor of old world monkey,apes and humans.anthropoids divided into oldworld monkey and hominoid. the old world monkey has narrow nose and downward directed nostrils.
hominoid were the ancestor of apes and man. humans and apes were seperated about 5 -10 million years ago.apes further divided into two group,

hyalobatidae
pongidae

hyalobatidae includes gibbon and pongidae includes gorilla,chimpange and orangutan.
after the seperation of apes,the remaining are called as hominidae.apes were 4 feeted and hominidae were 2 feeted.hominidae developed upright posture and cranial capacity.the developed shorter arms and longer feet.
hominidae changed themselves into ramapithecus that lived in asia and africa millions year ago.they were earliest known direct ancestor of human.ramapithecus were straight and use to feed like man. theyfurther evolved into australopithecus.they used to live n grassland of africa.australopithicus used to walk erect and their cranial capacity was 600 cc.
australopithecus changed into homo habills and they were the origin of genus homo.their height was 5 feet,weight as 50 kg and 700 cc cranial capacity.they built weapon for first time. homo erectus appeared about 1.7 million years ago from homo habilis. homo erects divided into java man and pecking man.they possess high cranial capacity.pecking man became extinct and java man further changed into neanderthal man and cro-magnon man.

neanderthal man : scientific name of neanderthal man is homo sapiens neanderthalisis.they used to live in earth 40000-70000 years ago. they were short ,stocky and use to hunt for food.they started wearing clothes,started cooking food and making metal weapons.their cranial capacity was 1350-1700 cc .ja and supra orbital ridge was large.chin was absent.they used to bury their dead ones they had developed primitive social life and language. they became extinct due to competition with cro-magnon man or due to inter breeding.

cro-magnon man: cro-magnon evolved in europe for first time and spread all over world. their skeleton resembles the skeleton of humans. they were same as human in shape,size,weight,posture etc.theyere great hunters. they use to live in caves ,use to wear clothes,had flat forhead etc. their cranial capacity was 1600 cc. they possess reduced jaw.foreheadwas flat and nose was elevated.they started painting on wall of caves.distinct chin was present.
cro-magnon man further changed into modern man about 10000 years ago. modern man started building huts, started living in fixed place in a community and started agriculture. because of high skill and intelligency;they became dominant species of world.

charactereristics of apes:
they have semi erect posture
they have long arm and short limb.
they possess massive jaws and prominent chin is absent.
neck muscles is poorly developed and head cand move properly in axis of neck.
they have large incisor and canine teth.
presence of flat skull amd carnial capacity is 300-500 cc.
